Today’s Interview with a Cam Girl is Maggs Lorraine! She’s a cute southern girl who does Fem Domme fetish shows. Her interests include fishing, beer, and Pokemon. Yes, Pokemon.
Q: How did you get into the business?
A: I have always been very sexual. In the fall of 2012, I came down with walking pneumonia for nearly a month and couldn’t work or really do anything. I got really bored and wound up researching heavily into camming. I had never been brave enough to give it a shot, but a combination of broke-ness, longstanding curiosity, and boredom convinced me to take the plunge.
Q: What is your favorite thing about being a cam girl?
A: The freedom, without a doubt. I get paid to be myself, and it is unbelievably liberating. Can it be inconsistent? Yes… but the tradeoff is so worth it. I get to have blue hair, take time off for family, and work around school. I am living the dream. I strip on the side, which is more than enough to mitigate the ups and downs.
Q: What is your least favorite thing about being a camgirl?
A: Hmm. Dealing with demanding, needy people. However, you come up against that no matter what you do. On a more personal level, I don’t like keeping it from my family. I am very close to my parents and I don’t like being unable to share my work with them. I tell my mom everything, and even 2 years in I have to be careful not to accidentally share something out of enthusiasm.
Q: What sites do you work through?
A: Primarily Streamate. I would love to be successful on MFC but I don’t know that I have the grit to deal with the pressure. I also have my own website and cam independently.
Q: Which sites are your favorite to cam at and why?
A: I love the freedom of Streamate. I can log on at virtually any time and have guaranteed income. I also get a lot of fetish requests, which are kind of my specialty.
Q: What does a typical day for you look like?
A: A lot of people do not realize how much work goes into camming. I probably spend 10-12 hours a day on camming-related activities. On days where I don’t have school, I wake up around 6:30 AM with my fiancé and see him off, then I spend an hour dicking around on the internet. From there, it is game on. I am checking up on Google analytics, posting on forums, taking pictures, working on promoting myself on social media, and recording, editing, and converting clips. I usually get online on Skype around 11 and Streamate around 1. I am available on both until 5, when the fiancé comes home and I get domestic. I am back online on either Skype or Streamate from 8-11 and then I crash. It is a lot of work, but I truly love it.
Q: What do your clients do to make you feel special?
A: It really depends. Streamate is very wham-bam, thank you, ma’am. You don’t develop regulars like you do on MFC. However, I have clients from my independent work who surprise me with things from my wishlist, remember my birthday, and even provide a shoulder to cry on every now and then.
Q: What do you think is your best feature?
A: Dat ass. But really, personality wise, my genuine concern for my clients. I domme, and even though I can be a ruthless bitch, I do care about the well-being of my longterm clients and the satisfaction of those who are more casual. From a money standpoint, it isn’t ideal… but what can I say? I am a big mush.
Q: What feature do your customers like about you?
A: I am going to say my enthusiasm. I love adult work and I would like to think it shows.
Q: What do you love about camming?
A: Aside from the freedom, the cross-section of humanity it provides. I see people at their most vulnerable, and I am honored to be trusted with that. One day, if I ever get sick of the industry, I want to go back to school to be a therapist. Our roles aren’t so different.
Q: What would be your ideal date?
A: Visiting a dive bar! Especially if they are hosting an event of some sort. I love people-watching. Plus… booze.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I LOVE Pokemon. And I mean, love it. I seriously own more than 200 plushies. On a more grown-ass-woman note, I also spend way too much time testing out new craft beers.
Q: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Beer is food. Right? Ok, ok, wonton soup. I am a fancy lady.
Q: What do you like to do to relax?
A: I am actually very outdoorsy, though my pasty skin may indicate otherwise. I love being on the water. Canoeing, fishing, pretty much any excuse to be out on a boat or splashing around.
Q: What is on your iPod?
A: Lots of crust punk, 80s goth, dad rock, and hiphop. It is this bizarre hodgepodge of genres. I get down to Led Zeppelin, Tragedy, pretty much anything spooky, Jedi Mind Tricks… you get the idea.
Q: If you could live anywhere, where would it be, and why?
A: I am from the Deep South and truly love it here. Honestly, I am perfectly content to stay in the Southeast. I am originally from South Carolina, but I lived in Florida for a while and would go back. It is such a bizarre state. My biggest thing is being able to own acreage. I like having room to roam.
Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
A: Not much, other than I am incredibly fortunate to have found this industry. Few other career paths offer this level of autonomy.
